California Coast Highway 1

THE CALIFORNIA COAST IS A VIEW I TAKE FOR GRANTED.

Living so close to the ocean, you tend to look past how pretty it actually is. However, the drive up highway one is definitely a great reminder. Every stretch of mile has something new to look at. Famous beaches, rolling hills, bluffs, wildlife, enormous trees. the list goes on! Billy and I took this trip pre-baby and no kids, starting in San Diego and ending in San Fransisco. We tried to hit every tourist and explorer spot we could in the span of a week. It was such a great experience for us. We knew for sure we would be bringing the kids back one day.

Starting in Dana Point

Our California coast trip begins. We didn’t stop a lot until after we made it to Big Sur. We wanted to drive as much as we could to make it to the good stuff before the sun set So we powered through the first 7ish hours of the trip to see Mcway Falls, A very popular attraction for tourist to stop and see. After taking the short walk to the falls, we back tracked to our lodging at Treehouse Bones Resort.

Billy got us a yurt with stunning views of the Big Sur coast. They actually have a lot of options from tent camping, human nest camping, yurts and Autonomous tents. It was such a beautiful resort. The grounds were really well taken care of and you can’t beat the view.

The first morning of our trip we decided to start exploring immediately. We packed up the truck and had breakfast on the bluffs. We stopped at every opportunity we could to see the view from a different perspective. Even after driving the coast for 7+ hours we never really got used to the view.

Finally making it to San Francisco

We stayed in this little hotel right in the city giving us the full San Francisco experience. It had a fire escape balcony overlooking Powel street cable car. What a treat that was! Needless to say, we didn't hesitate to climb out.

In the very near future, we will be taking this trip again trying to stop at more spots and this time, with the kids! Adding a few more days to the timeframe and a little more planning of course. The app we used to plan this trip and a lot of trips we go on is Roadtrippers. I love this app for so many reasons but my favorite thing about it is it’s so easy to hop in the car and plan on the road. I highly recommend this app for your next trip.

What was your most memorable trip you couldn’t wait to go on again?
